Georgie Leahy
Painting
Georgie Leahy is an emerging artist from the Gascoyne region now working in Boorloo (Perth). Inspired by her upbringing on the Carnarvon plantations her work evokes the natural landscape and colours of the region. Georgie is currently finishing her final year of her Bachelor of Creative Arts at Curtin University, her practice is currently centred around watercolour and oil painting.

I grew up in Brixton in South London, moving to Western Australia in the 1980s. I studied and graduated with a diploma in Illustrative photography in 1990.
Some times the most controversial thing a person can do is to simply say how things are, and this notion is my guiding light in both my writing and photography. For me an artist is someone with a skewed vision of the world, a vision that artists will spend their life trying to communicate.
