Mentoring / Support

Preparing for Open Studios is exciting, but it can also feel a little overwhelming. We've gathered practical resources, tips and support to help you along the way. Explore the guides below and find what works for you.

Volunteers

This event is organised by volunteers.  We appreciate all the help we can get so if you have a skill that you think will assist us please indicate it in the application form when you apply.

Eligibility Guidelines

We welcome emerging and accomplished visual artists of any genre who have a studio and reside in the Shire of Mundaring.

​

Each artist displaying work at a studio location needs to apply to be either the main artist or guest artist.

​

We have found in the past that studios with more than one artist are more often frequented by the public.  Guest artists will need to be a guest of someone else's studio. Artists can invite guest artists to collaborate at their studio and they can come from anywhere.

What does it cost

  • The registration/membership fee is $350.   

  • For new artists, there is a requirement to purchase an MHOS sign for your studio location and roster/directional signs to be placed around your area. 

  • For your application to be successful, you must have current Public Liability Insurance that covers you and your studio throughout this event.  All guest artists also need to have PLI. Normal house insurance will not be sufficient.

This form must be completed by 1 June 2026. Late entries will not be accepted.

What do you get for your fee

The application fee for each artist covers the cost of brochures, marketing, and admin fees.  This enables you to have the following benefits:

​

  • Participation in the event.

  • Opportunity to sell your art and develop new contacts.

  • Presence on our website with your one web page including your bio, contact details, links to your social media and/or website, and art images. This will remain on our website for one year.

  • Listing in the 17,000+ Event brochure that is widely distributed around Perth and regionally.

    • This includes an image of your art, artist profile, contact details, Google map location, and opening times calendar.

  • Promotion on our Instagram and Facebook pages.

  • Presence on our Open Studio smartphone App including bio, images, contact details, links, and search and navigation facilities.  This year, we will be using a new location-finding software called 'what3words' to help improve precision for the map and to use on the new mobile app.  Instructions on the application form.

  • Special listing if you are doing demos/workshops or courses during the MHOS event.

  • Listing on the website for any courses/workshops or exhibitions you are doing throughout the year.

  • Benefit from our extensive event marketing program, which brings thousands of art lovers to the event each year. 

  • Invitation to our brochure launch and closing event.
