Mundaring Hills Open Studios THIS WEEKEND

The wait is almost over. THIS WEEKEND, it all begins! 85 artists. 33 studios. Three venues. Nine days of art, fresh air and a little adventure.

17 to 25 October 2026

This Saturday, the doors swing open for Mundaring Hills Open Studios 2026, and the Hills are about to get a whole lot more colourful.

We asked our artists one little question:

“What’s something a little different, special or standout about your studio this year?”

And wow, did they deliver.

Think live music in the garden, fresh ceramics straight from the kiln, beautiful new collections, wearable art, working demonstrations, peacocks, wildflowers and even a rather fabulous mother and daughter creative duo.

This is your invitation to get out of the house, into the fresh spring air and behind the studio doors of the people who make the magic.

Here's a little taste of what's waiting for you this weekend.

STUDIO 11 | JENNI TATE REIMER

Tate Studio | 22 Tillbrook Street, Glen Forrest

A little golden hour of magic.

Jenni is celebrating the light and landscapes of Western Australia with a beautiful new collection of paintings. Known for her bold, expressive colour and ability to capture that unmistakable golden WA glow, she's also designed and built a clever new mobile display stand to showcase her work.

Come for the colour. Stay for the light.

VENUE B | ANDREW McNAMARA

Mundaring Adult Learning Centre

New beginnings, beautiful timber.

Andrew has recently become a full time woodturner, creating clean, contemporary pieces that reveal the hidden character of each piece of timber.

And his brand new website has just gone live. Talk about timing!

STUDIO 10 | PENE TURNER & ALISON BROWN

Pene Turner Creative | 3 Johnmoore Court, Glen Forrest

Like mother, like daughter. Except both are doing their own brilliant thing.

This is one seriously special studio.

Pene creates richly textured landscapes using wool and silk fibres, alongside sculptural and functional pieces carved from Western Australian timber.

Joining her is her mum, Alison Brown, whose extraordinary ceramics career spans 55 years.

Now aged 86, Alison returns to the area where her creative journey began, bringing a sensational new body of ceramic work. Her career includes acquisitions by the Art Gallery of Western Australia and the Shire of Mundaring.

Wander down the driveway and meet this wonderful mother and daughter creative duo.

STUDIO 1 | STACY GARDOLL

Stacy Gardoll Art | 16 Fordham Drive, Swan View

From canvas to something you can wear.

Stacy is known for her stunning, large scale botanical paintings that magnify the beautiful details of native flora.

This year, she's bringing her artwork into the wardrobe with a gorgeous new collection of four silk blend scarf designs.

At 180cm by 100cm, they're beautifully generous, versatile and designed to drape.

Art you can hang on your wall or wear out to lunch. We love options.

STUDIO 7 | JACKIE DAVIS & ANTOINETTE BOYD

7 Cook Street, Darlington

Watercolours, ceramics and Scandinavian folk music.

Jackie's vibrant watercolours capture the beauty of the Perth Hills and her travels through New Zealand, Colorado and New Mexico. Alongside her, Antoinette of Ant B Clay creates wonderfully whimsical ceramics, celebrating the charm of perfect imperfection.

And this year, there's something extra lovely.

A three piece Scandinavian folk group will be playing in their beautiful garden for a few hours on opening Saturday, with further performances planned throughout the event.

Come for the art. Stay for the music and garden magic.

STUDIO 13 | LIZ BERRY

Kore Earth Ceramics | 6 Gooray Street, Glen Forrest

Fresh from the kiln. Wildflowers included.

Fresh from the kiln. And a little sneak peek at what's next.

Liz creates beautiful earthy ceramics inspired by ancient forms, weathered stone and the colours and textures of the natural world.

This year, alongside her finished ceramics, Liz is sharing something a little different. A collection of works in progress that she's been experimenting with and refining. While Liz feels they're not quite ready to be offered for sale, they share a fascinating glimpse into her creative process and the ideas she's bringing to life.

Pop into Studio 13, discover Liz's beautiful ceramics and see what she's been working on behind the scenes!

STUDIO 27 | DIANNE KINGMAN

Lake House Studio | 10 Elizabeth Avenue, Mundaring

First time on the trail. A little creative chaos. And some seriously beautiful paintings.

It's Dianne's very first MHOS, and she's been busy getting Lake House Studio ready for opening weekend. In her own words, it's a "controlled state of chaos", but she's on track and loving every minute!

Inspired by her love of the ocean and the natural world, Dianne creates expressive seascapes and vibrant floral paintings, capturing the beautiful colours, light and textures of nature.

A wonderful new artist to discover on this year's trail. Pop into Studio 27, say hello and give Dianne a warm MHOS welcome!

VENUE C | AMAROO RETREAT & SPA

Art, gardens and a few feathered locals.

Aboriginal art, contemporary works and classic realism come together in the tranquil bushland setting of Amaroo Retreat & Spa.

Add beautiful gardens, delicious food, great coffee and resident peacocks, and you've got an art stop with a little extra personality.

Art and peacocks? Obviously we're in.

STUDIO 22 | PAMELA SISTRUNK

Wild Yarns | 900 Kintore Road, Parkerville

A wishing tree, a cuppa and a whole lot of creativity.

Pamela's studio celebrates traditional weaving, spinning, natural fibres and sustainable textile art.

This year you can add a wish to her Wishing Tree for a chance to win a handmade scarf, enjoy tea, coffee and cake for a gold coin donation supporting a dementia fundraiser, and catch weaving and spinning demonstrations throughout the event.

On Sunday 18 October, guest spinner Lyn Morton from Cudemara Merino Farm joins Pamela for a special demonstration.

A beautiful place to slow down, make a wish and watch creativity in action.

RIGHT. LET'S PLAN YOUR ART ADVENTURE.

Nine days, 85 artists and a whole lot of beautiful Hills country to explore. A little planning goes a long way, but don't plan every minute. Some of the best discoveries happen when you take an unexpected turn.

Choose a few studios you're excited about, then leave some breathing room for an unexpected discovery. That surprise studio could end up being your favourite.

Art is the main event, but the Hills have plenty more going on. Think great coffee, delicious lunches, bushwalks, scenic stops and a little last minute boutique accommodation if you fancy making a weekend of it.
