Bob is currently working in various styles – raku, pit-firing and horsehair decorated pots. His work is mostly non-functional pieces, concentrating on the beauty of form and final decorative effects. He loves the exciting and unexpected results when Raku pieces are taken out of the burnt leaves. “"It’s always a surprise and the results usually amaze me – although sometimes it is back to the drawing board!” Whilst in his studio at the wheel, Bob overlooks a small lake with many ducks, surrounded by forest. This can make for a sometimes erratic journey, as he explains: “It is a bit like a lucky dip or magical mystery tour when I pull the piece from the burnt leaves, or unwrap the pit fired pots. I never know what is going to come out – sometimes it is a lovely surprise and sometimes a disappointment! What I can rely on is it is never the same and it is not possible to replicate any previous work. Therefore every piece is absolutely unique!”

While at the wheel Bob overlooks a small lake, which can at times be almost overrun by ducks and swamp hens, with a forest as backdrop.
