Drawing, Painting
June's original interest in the arts took her into the dance world, and after many years of dancing and teaching classical ballt she took up painting focusing mainly on impressionist/realist landscapes an seascapes. She paints in oils, both her small and larger works showing her passion for trying to express he effect of light on our world, as she tries to capture those magical and fleeting moments when light reveals a beauty she wishes to share with others. Painting on either canvas or board, June uses the alla prima method of paiting, i.e. painting wet on wet.
Her style is an impressionist/realist one, moving more towards impressionism as she develops further. In the last year or so June has been deepending her exploration into abstraction in the search for another level of expressiveness in her art, while conversely revisiting earlier works. She believes this looser approach, predominantly using palette knife rather than brushes, has positively influenced her earlier impressionist/realist style. It seems to June hat the more she learns about art, the less she knows!
Each new genre, tool or technique means anothr steep learning curve, with the need to revisit what has gone before to measure where she was with where she is now. A constantly exciting challenge with nothing ever standing still! June is fortunate enough to have a light-filled studio overlooking ponds.
