Drawing, Mixed Media, Painting, Paper, Visual Artist

Karen Price Hills Visual Atistry Art has always been an important part of my life. At school it was my favourite subject, and I have always been a creative and crafty person. Much of my working life has involved colour, shape, and form in one way or another. After my children grew up, I decided to formally pursue my passion and enrolled at TAFE to study Visual Arts. I have since completed my Certificate IV and Diploma in Visual Arts, and I am currently continuing my studies toward my Advanced Diploma. Over the years I have had the opportunity to exhibit my artwork in a number of exhibitions and venues including Atwell House, the Perth Royal Show, Rutherglen, Darlington Arts Festival, Minnawarra Art Awards, Belmont Art Awards, and Bitches Brew Gallery. Exhibiting has been a wonderful experience and I always enjoy seeing the diversity of work created by other artists.

In 2016 I founded Hills Visual Artistry, through which I have hosted creative workshops, including a Watercolour Experience at Olive Farm Winery in the Swan Valley. Also now teaching in my Hills visual artistry studio, sharing art with others is something I truly enjoy. For a period of time, I also volunteered at Citiplace, a seniors’ centre in the city, where I taught drawing, painting, and sculpture. I later had the privilege of teaching homeschooled children in Perth’s northern suburbs. Each student worked in a visual diary while exploring Indigenous art, master painters, colour theory, and sculpture.

I regularly meet with a group of artists on Saturdays where we explore new techniques and share ideas. Through this supportive community I enjoy participating in Mundaring Open Studios, which was a rewarding milestone in my artistic journey.
