Ceramics

Kevin discovered ceramics, with wheel-throwing studies under the guidance of Greg Crowe before expanding into hand-built sculptural forms. Over time, he has developed a distinctive visual language centred on architectural ceramics and illuminated forms. His work encompasses hand-built houses, lighthouses, castles, birdhouses, night lights, and imaginative rocket ships, each carefully constructed with a strong attention to detail and craftsmanship.

Through these works, Kevin explores the relationship between structure, light, and memory, creating sculptures that are both whimsical and contemplative. Drawing inspiration from architectural forms, coastal beacons, and domestic spaces of warmth and refuge, his ceramic sculptures investigate the balance between permanence and fragility. Richly textured surfaces and layered construction methods emphasise the tactile qualities of clay while revealing the transformative process from soft material to enduring form.

At the heart of Kevin’s practice is an interest in place, imagination, and human connection. His illuminated works invite viewers into intimate spaces that evoke nostalgia, shelter, wonder, and storytelling, encouraging reflection on the emotional resonance of built environments and the memories they hold.
