Glass, Sculpture
Lee Johnson is a Perth Hills–based kiln-formed and cast glass artist whose work responds to the light, colour, and changing seasons of the Western Australian landscape. Drawing inspiration from native flora, sky, and the textures of the hills environment, she creates sculptural and functional glass works designed to live comfortably in both home and garden settings. Visitors to Lee’s studio will see a range of finished pieces alongside works in progress, offering insight into how her layered glass forms are developed through kiln-forming processes.
Her current work includes sculptural vessels, platters, garden elements, and atmospheric sky-inspired pieces exploring cloud forms, shifting light, and reflections of place. She is also developing larger installation concepts based on Western Australian botanical forms and landscape themes. Working from a purpose-built home studio in the Perth Hills, Lee creates pieces that balance strength and delicacy while responding to the surrounding environment. During Mundaring Hills Open Studios, visitors are invited to experience the studio setting, learn about the making process, and view original works available for purchase directly from the artist.
