Michelle Toye

Ceramics

Michelle is a ceramic artist known for creating timeless, tactile works that celebrate form, texture, and the quiet beauty of imperfection. Drawing inspiration from nature, architecture, and traditional craft, Michelle blends contemporary design with age-old techniques to produce functional pottery. Working primarily in stoneware Michelle focuses on wheel-thrown forms, embracing organic shapes and glazes that reflect a connection to material and process. Each piece is a meditation on rhythm, patience, and the dialogue between hands and clay. Based in Darlington, Michelle has been creating since childhood and came to pottery 7 years ago under the guidance of renowned potter Frank Smith. Michelle seeks to create pieces that invite touch, use, and quiet reflection.
