Pauline Gill
Painting
Drawing and painting has always been an important part of Pauline’s life. She grew up in Victoria, later becoming a secondary art teacher. She travelled the state widely, delighting in its variety and the beauty of its mountains and waterways. Later, in Melbourne, she was accepted into the National Gallery School. Coming to Perth she studied ceramics, becoming a successful potter for many years, and also continued as an art teacher.
Her painting time was severely restricted. A year in Canada introduced her to watercolours and she returned home a committed water colourist, finding it a fresh and delightful medium. Accepted into The Watercolour Society of Western Australia Pauline has never looked back, continuing to learn and enjoying the companionship and support.
She exhibits regularly with the Society and has held several successful individual exhibitions. Her work is held in many private collections. Pauline regularly paints plein air both at home in the Perth hills and when travelling, these sketches becoming rich resources for her studio paintings. Her work is wide ranging but strongly influenced by the beauty of the Western Australian landscape..
