Ceramics

Rebecca Tester is a ceramic artist working from her studio in the Perth Hills. She was first introduced to clay at 16 when she attended a Fine Arts at Midland Tafe. After travelling and family and further work in graphic design and she arrived back at clay in the 2017 with further studies in the Advance Ceramic at Central Tafe, working under Warrick Palmateer and Bela Kotai.

She is currently studio Manager and tutor at Canning Arts Groups and an active member of the annual Mundaring Hills Open Studio. Her work is made on the wheel and she will often assemble and add sculptural and carved decorative elements to her forms. She draws inspiration from her natural surrounds and the ocean, her love of sea forms and colours is reflected in her glazing of her large bowls and platters. Her large scale pieces can use up to 12kg of clay that are wheel thrown in a day and shaped to create fluid rims. With large canvas clay forms Rebecca is able to explore and create beautiful glazed fired surfaces that add function and draws the viewer into a landscape or ocean vista.

Her works are made in sequence and groupings that reflect the process and intention of her pieces and her skill as a wheel thrower and maker.
