Robbie Kerr

Raised by two parents heavily involved in ceramics, I was exposed to the practice very early in my life. I dabbled with pottery throughout my childhood and at school but didn’t really find my passion for it until my mid 20’s. Since this discovery I have been obsessed with clay and the potters wheel.

Throughout my ceramic practice I have been using texture, pattern and colour to explore the themes of the natural environment. I am fascinated by the recurring patterns and symbols that are produced by nature. I try to represent these patterns through my carvings and subsequent glaze treatments. Having grown up in the bush and now living by the ocean, these themes are often explored in my work.
