Sue Findlay

Originally from the United Kingdom and now based in Perth, artist Sue Findlay creates semi-abstract animal and bird paintings with a rustic, vintage feel. Working with layered textures, expressive marks, and palette knives, her art captures personality, warmth, and country charm. Her latest collection explores bold earthy tones and textured surfaces, created using unconventional tools including kitchen spatulas to achieve richly layered effects and movement within the paint. Sue’s creative journey began in graphic design before moving into the canvas printing industry in 2007. After retiring from graphic design in 2018, she focused fully on developing her own artistic style and building a creative business around her work.

Over the years, she has explored a wide range of mediums and techniques, including resin art, mixed media, abstract painting, and sculpture, while sharing her process online through tutorials and social media. Best known for her expressive farm animals and birds, Sue is drawn to subjects with personality and presence, especially Highland cows and rustic country-inspired themes. Alongside her original paintings, she also prints selected artworks onto distressed wooden blocks, blending fine art with handcrafted rustic décor designed to bring warmth, character, and a sense of nostalgia into the home.
