Sue Spencer Art

Drawing, Mixed Media, Painting, Paper, Visual Artist

My body of work is an example from an ongoing investigation of exploring the idea of using acrylics on wooden panels, the use of the very flat surface and the way the acrylic is absorbed into the material gives me the effect I am looking for. My happy place is mixing and using complimentary colours to create and explore the beautiful and unique composition that are based around nature.

Using imagination as my playground to explore all possible colours, depth and intensity I create magic on the surface of the canvas, this my world of colour. My artistic journey started with lead lighting and mosaics; I have studied with Ian Hill at Midland Tafe doing watercolour short course. Now finding inspiration with a group of artists that I meet with on a Saturday has inspired me to venter into new dimension I would not have done.

Corrugated iron is another illuminating surface that I explored, this surface blends itself well with nature and the colours I use. I have placed corrugated iron artworks in my garden to enhance the beauty and interest of my garden.
