Painter, Textiles

Initially this year was about developing my textile ideas. The "Birdsong" series is a mix of slow sewing and dyed fabric to represent the birds we have around us at Sylvanup in their colours, sounds, flight paths and habitat. I also worked on making tablemats and jackets using Sashiko and Boro ideas and then worked into them with English embroidery stitches. During the open studios, I’ve set up two demos/workshops where you can try these ideas out using a tablemat kit; slow sewing for an hour or so over a coffee, enjoying the garden scenery and arty spaces as you sit back……. For more details and bookings, use the email address below.

We revisited the Cape to Cape track so I indulged in lots of seascapes using watercolours /pencils /pastels.

Finally, we did an epic road trip across the Nullabor to Canberra and then north - a great source of inspiration across different media. They are in sketch form here but now we are home I’m working on the ideas for the open studio event. Watch my Instagram site for what emerges.

Our garden will invite you in; enjoy the space over a coffee - bring your lunch!
