Drawing, Mixed Media, Painting, Textiles

Our beautiful garden will welcome you to my gallery. Enjoy the space over a coffee. My abiding love has been with watercolour and I’ve included pastels, pencils, charcoal, eco-dyeing and textiles along the way. I’m mixing them up now with some pleasing results.

This year I’ve enjoyed the paper dyeing I did over summer. Wonderful, suggestive images which I’m drawing and painting back into. All gifts from my garden from beginning to end! We have also had some stunning coastal holidays and I love painting these environments in watercolour. I’m still slow sewing, exploring the symbolic side of fabrics and threads. I’m playing with the idea of a coastal soundscapes captured in symbolic stitches. My latest coat, made of long-stored, hand-dyed, fabric remnants is aptly called ‘Over the Years’. I’m enjoying charcoal exercises to loosen me up and during the Open Studios I hope to run a workshop exploring some of these exercises, revealing the potential of charcoal. Fun!!

It is such a pleasure to welcome visitors to my gallery each year to share our creative journeys and to encourage each other. There is so much to celebrate around us: patterns, colours and shapes, the sobering of the enormous to the intriguing minuscule, memories of good times and spaces, the changing seasons and light, textures and exploring details. I hope my work captures some of this for you to enjoy on your visit.
